After working in newspapers and marketing, Mary Fastenau saw the potential of the Internet in 1995, and founded StarrTech Interactive. StarrTech was part of Starr Seigle McCombs. In 2007, Starr Siegle merged with McNeil Wilson/Laird Christianson to form the Anthology Marketing Group. StarrTech is in the process of being renamed something like Anthology Media.
Whatever its name, Fastenau continues as president of the largest online marketing firm in the state, with expertise in web sites, online marketing, SEO, web analytics, enterprise-wide solutions, intranets, social media, user experience and mobile web.
The firm does work for major clients like Microsoft, Bank of Hawaii, Marriott, Hawaiian Tel, Symantec, Farmers Insurance, and dozens of others.
Fastenau is known for building teams of interactive professionals who create award-winning work. In 2010 alone, the team won six national awards.
She is currently on the National Board for the American Heart Association, and serves as its digital media consultant. The American Advertising Federation-Hawaii chapter named her as Ad Woman of the Year, and she’s been honored several times at the Pacific Business News “Women Who Mean Business” competition.
